The Rothrock Way: Craft, Not Chaos
When you’ve been in the trades long enough, you start to notice something: the best work happens when everyone knows what they’re doing, what they’re walking into, and who’s steering the ship.
That’s why at Rothrock, we don’t wing it. We plan, we communicate, and we bring in the right people for the right tasks. Our job as general contractors is to set the tone—through clear expectations, thoughtful planning, and respect for the people doing the work.
When Ben first started in the trades, his boss did it all—framing, insulation, drywall, tile, finish carpentry, even plumbing and electrical. And when Ben launched his own company, he followed that same model. But after nearly 20 years of hands-on experience, he realized something important: even a highly skilled generalist can’t match the speed and precision of someone who focuses on one trade every single day.
That insight shaped Rothrock’s philosophy. As general contractors, we focus on being exceptional in the areas most GCs tend to avoid—planning, project management, and communication. We round out our team by partnering with tradespeople who are exceptional in their specialties—plumbers, tile setters, cabinet makers, painters—people who focus on one trade and take great pride in doing it well.
Great remodeling work doesn’t happen by accident. It happens through experience, skill, and a team that knows exactly why they’re there. If that sounds like you—we’d love to meet you!

How Our Process Works
We do things a little differently—and we’re proud of that. Building a strong team takes more than just collecting bids. Here’s what to expect when you reach out:
Step 1: Quick Intro Call
Start by filling out the short form below to tell us about your business. We’ll follow up with a brief phone call to introduce ourselves and learn more about what you do best.
Step 2: Coffee & Conversation
If that call goes well, we’ll invite you to meet up for coffee. It’s a casual, face-to-face conversation that gives both of us a chance to get a feel for fit. Our best trade partners have told us they appreciated this step—it shows we’re serious about who we bring onto our team and how we protect our clients and trade partners.
Step 3: Full Onboarding
After we’ve met and decided to move forward, we’ll walk you through our onboarding packet. This includes:
- Filling out our intake form and providing your W-9
- Signing our Master Subcontract Agreement
- Submitting a Certificate of Insurance (COI)
Once you’re onboarded, we’ll give you access to our vendor portal where you can manage bids, work orders, and communication.
Step 4: Project Invitations
With everything in place, you’ll be eligible to receive bid requests. We’ll send detailed project info and scope, and you’ll submit your pricing and notes through the portal. If approved, we’ll send a work order before any job begins.
Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers.
Do I need to sign your subcontractor agreement before I can bid?
Yes. We’ve found that doing the paperwork up front avoids issues later. Everyone must be fully onboarded before bidding.
I do more than one trade. Can I still apply?
Sure! We always need skilled generalists for small projects and one-off tasks. We primarily work with specialists, though, so if there’s a specific place you shine, be sure to let us know.
What platform do you use to manage projects?
We use JobTread, which includes a free vendor portal so you can manage your bids, documents, and project communication in one place.
Is this a one-time job or long-term?
We’re always building long-term partnerships with skilled, dependable trades. Do great work, and we’ll keep sending opportunities your way.
Ready to Join Forces?
We’re proud to work with trades who value professionalism, craftsmanship, and long-term partnerships. If that sounds like you, we’d love to connect.
Fill out the short form below to get started. We’ll reach out to schedule a quick phone call—and if it’s a great fit, we’ll invite you to grab coffee with us so we can get to know each other better.
